Is it nessasary to remove the head on my 1989 bmw 325I to replace the rocker arm?|||what agraham said... sorry :(|||Sadly, yes it does. The arm slides out of the carriers towards the vehicle's firewall or radiator. Otherwise, you would have to drill holes through the firewall and evaporator core, or drop the engine and front suspension off of the car. Or, remove the front timing cover and radiator. It all depends on how sneaky and patient you are.|||Pretty much YEP.. But it depends on what rocker needs changing. Some can be changed with the head on. But a lot of the time there is more damage than the rocker and the head has to come off. To a pro mechanic yanking off the head is easier and less time consuming.
