Im buying a 2004 BMW 330i and I am in the military in Fort Drum Ny where it snows a lot. How is the rear wheel drive BMW's in the snow? I have heard that they are not that good.|||The 330i is absolutely terrible in the snow. Even snow tires and chains won't help you that much in bad conditions. I had an M3 and I would get stuck in barely an inch of snow, it was really bad. My advice to you is try to get a BMW with 4 wheel drive (330xi), get another card with 4WD, or just live with it and don't drive when it snows. Good luck|||Well, any rear wheel drive sedan will have trouble in the snow. No car like I described will do well. Get good snow tires, or chains, drive slow and good luck, ice knows no car make or model and fears none. Remember that BMW sedans tend to be low to the ground, that will affect your ability to drive in the snow also. I would suggest a high profile vehicle, Jeep (4x4), truck (4x4), all wheel drive car (subaru, audi, ext...)
good luck, hope this helps.|||i drove my dads 330i in the winter this year, its not good! since the 330i is especially torquey the tires spin like mad when there is even a small amount of snow on the ground. the car even had brand new bridgstone blizzaks - but overall it was still bad. if you have to drive it during a blizzard, you must avoid all hills - cause you simply cant drive up them when theres more than 8cm on the ground. the traction control doesnt help either - it will just cut the throttle whenever it senses spin -- seems like it might work, but it doesnt it will just leave the car stranded. if you dont have to drive when its snowing outside, and can wait till its plowed or only a little bit of snow on the ground then the 330i will be fine. otherwise if you need to drive through blizzards - id recomend getting a cheap winter beater. braking is good though - its definatley more than adequete.|||Terrible in the snow.
You need the 330 xi in that climate.
