Tired of running out of diesel because the fuel gauge does not work? Temperature gauge does not work either. The indicators work on the outside but do not show they are working inside of the car by any light or indicating noise.
Should i just replace the whole clock face for the BMW?|||Check all you fuses first. Sometimes there are 1 or 2 fuses in very small holders, which are not part of the main fuse panel.|||I think you have a voltage stabiliser issue. this is a Small part of circuit behind dashboard that controls gauge needles for both Fuel and temperature gauges.
as indicator light on dashboard isn't working as well it may be a problem behind dash gauge panel eg broken electrical connection / fitting.
probably best to pop dash panel off and see if any visual defects can be found then if not into auto electrics etc run it into a local garagee.|||Always start at the easy end first, check all your fuses. Check your 12v +/- at the fuel float/sending unit.
Go to your local salvage yard and pull the guage cluster out that you can compare with yours.
Try to determine that the guage cluster works by installing a battery in the car...
(the side benefit of doing this, is the knowledge of how to pull a part without having to learn on YOUR vehicle)
If your guage cluster has a copper film circuit on the back, (most cars do) look for any burn marks on your cluster, if you have to pull it out. I'm guessing this is where you will find your problem,
