What do i do when my 1997 bmw 328is computer reads "check brake light circuit use owners manual"?

I own a 1997 BMW 328is and the computer shows that I need to check the brake light circuit and to read through the owners manual for help. What do you think the problem is ?|||Check fuses,bulbs,relays and brake switch located behind brake pedal and make sure all is working properly|||It likely sounds like a burnt out brake light. Sometimes those are tricky to see that they are burnt out unless you have someone stand behind your car while you press on the brakes. I would try doing that first.
