What's the difference between the BMW 5 series models?

I'm looking to help a fried buy a BMW. Can you outline the difference between the five series models. We appreciate the details.|||Engine size.

The 528i has a 3.0L Naturally aspirated Inline 6 engine, with 258 horsepower and 228 ft/lb of torque.

The 535i has a 3.0L Twin Turbocharged Inline 6 engine, with 306 horsepower and 295 ft/lb of torque.

The 550i has a 4.4L Twin Turbocharged V8 Engine, with 407 horsepower and 421 ft/lb of torque.

The higher the model # goes up, the more standard features and bodykits such as more aggressive styling, and larger wheels.

In my opinion, the best one to purchase is the 535i, because it has great power, and fuel economy.

The 550i is ridiculous, and you don't need a V8 in a midsize car like that.

The 528i is a tad underpowered, if you're buying a 528i, a topline V6 Honda Accord, fully loaded, would be good competition, and $20,000 less than the Bimmer :)

-Liam|||No offense, but the question is vague. I'll do my best to answer it though. the 5 series is kinda like the accord of honda. they are a good family car, they have power to go fast, and they are very reliable and can be a great car. What i think your asking about ( i could be wrong ) is what is the difference between a 525i and a 550i. well here it is. There is no difference except the 550i has a 5.0 liter engine and the 525i has a 2.5 liter engine. so the 550i will get a little less gas mileage, but will be faster. this applies to any of the BMW's sold today.the last two digits are the engine size in liters. the M series is the racing edition of the 5 series. So the M5 is a racing series of the 5 series. it is fast and is an awesome car.
